Human exhale CO2. Carbon Dioxide. Plants absorb it, use the CARBON to make new cells (during photosynthesis), then "discharge" the unneeded oxygen. Which humans breathe in. When the plant dies or burned, the carbon is released into the soil or air as black smoke where it'll combine with Oxygen or whatever else.
