My late Brother, Jim, was NSA. He signed a contract requiring him to not discuss certain things for 20-years. General subjects were open for discussion, after he left that job. I learned that certain information that might appear to be innocent, might relate to other information in ways that make it important to keep under wraps. For example, spies spend a lot of time verifying the reliability of information and sources. Nothing exists in a void unto itself. If you uncover info that appears to be, it may be planted by others for a variety of reasons beyond being a red herring. This is only one of the reasons that amateurs should not attempt to "Declassify."
