Sell everyone electric cars then rotate between absurd energy cost spikes and rolling blackouts
Then
Just ban electric cars all together because the grid can't take it

I'd love to get off the grid and rely on my own solar, batteries and backup generator, but you're literally not allowed to take yourself off the grid if you're already on it.

Have you not seen the new Ford F150 Lightening EV or are you conveniently refusing to acknowledge it?

Here are 10 facts about EVs the Left doesn’t want Americans to know:

1. EVs are powered by fossil fuels. According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA), fossil fuel-based power plants — coal, oil, or natural gas — create about 60% of the nation’s electrical grid, while nuclear power accounts for nearly 20%.

2. The batteries of EVs rely on cobalt. An estimated 70% of the global supply of cobalt emanates from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, a country with deplorable working conditions, especially for children.

3. A study released earlier this year by an environmental group showed that nearly one-third of San Francisco’s electric charging stations were non-functioning. The population of San Francisco represents roughly two percent of California.

4. Supporters of the California law admit there will be a 40% increase in demand for electricity, adding further strain to the grid and requiring increased costs for power and infrastructure.

5. According to one researcher, the strain of adding an EV is similar to adding “1 or 2 air conditioners” to your home, except an EV requires power year-round.

6. Today, 20 million American families, or one in six, have fallen behind on their electric bills, the highest amount ever.

7. Utility companies will need to add $5,800 in upgrades for every new EV for the next eight years in order to compensate for the demand for power. All customers will shoulder this cost.

8. The average price for an electric vehicle is currently $66,000, up more than 13% in just the last year, costing an average of $18,000 more than the average combustible engine. Meanwhile, the median household income is $67,521. For African American families, the average is $45,870, and for Hispanic households, $55,321.

9. A 2022 study found that the majority of EV charging occurs at home, leaving those who live in multi-family dwellings (apartments) at a real disadvantage for charging.

10. The same study also noted that many drivers charge their EVs overnight when solar power is less available on the grid.

The answers the Right doesn't want to acknowledge the Left already has

1) Solar
2) It's true that most of the American way of life depends on standing on the necks of the people we "trade" with. That the left makes no motion towards remedying this just gives it another thing in common with the right.
3) Yep, SF is a sty. I just returned from a job there and am always happy to leave.
4) Solar
5) Solar
6) Solar!
7) Solar.
8) Solar
9) Multi-family homes are a sub-optimal living arrangement for many reasons, as well as an unfortunate necessity. I guess public transit/carpooling, or else working close enough to home to be able to walk or bike there. In any case I doubt a bottleneck at the charging station is going to be the worst of their hardships. (Or hey, they could just use a gas powered car, if they can afford the gas.)
10) Making full use of a solar array requires batteries to store surplus power generated during the day. I'd cry about kids in the Congo but I'm pretty sure there are still child swestshops in US protectorates, and if I'm not crying about that I'm not going to cry about cruelty and exploitation elsewhere either, whether from the oil industry f**king shit up in south america or lithium subsidizing china's campaign against the Uyghurs, etc. Wafflestomping around the globe, taking what we want and wiping our asses with the rest has always been the american way. 🤷

Lol, looks like we're overdue to add more solar infrastructure! We wouldn't be so far behind if a certain half of the nation didn't fight it kicking and screaming. Speaking of which, simultaneously fighting it and pointing out that there isn't enough of it to make a difference is...let's just call it Republican.

My home solar generates a suplus when I'm not running the air conditioner. My meter runs backwards. It's cool if others aren't interested in having a similar system installed at little upfront cost and then paying it off over a few years with the money you save NOT paying for electricity. If you live where the sun don't shine then that probably makes sense.

But what should we do when fossil fuels cease to be finacially viable for energy production? Build a bunch of nukes? Let the majority of the coutry devolve into 3rd world status? Or have you not thought that far ahead?

LOL... yes install more to turn off when it gets too hot outside... makes perfect sense...

In Arizona where it reaches 140 degrees on a rooftop, sure, solar isn't the best option. Installing solar anywhere it IS feasible will help reduce the draw on the grid, which would help everyone.

So, what's your suggestion for when fossil fuels cease to be a financially viable means of generating energy? Aside from your comments, nothing can be powered by snark and sarcasm.

You're the one using snark and sarcasm... so

I'm only stating facts... but of course, you want to remain oblivious to the raping of the earth for rare earth minerals needed for EVs and solar panels...

To use your own snarky language back at you: I see, so all you can do is deflect. Got it.

I'm not oblivious to the earth being raped. I openly acknowledged it... OOPS

Of what precisely? Enviromental damage? Pardon me while I flush what remaining shred of credibility you had down the shitter along with the damage caused by the oil industries (onshore, offshore, fracking), not to mention everything perpetrated by Dupont, Dow and Monsanto. Your implied concern for our combined effect on the enviroment rings hollow.

And you still haven't answered my question.

New cars? By my count that still leaves 10s of millions of used cars that'll be grandfathered.
