Isn't the current IRS auditing people who cheat on their taxes? Hiring 87,000 new IRS agents means the IRS is targeting everyone. There aren't 87,000 billionaires to target. That means the IRS agent is targeting middle-income families. A recent Syracuse study related to income levels and tax audits showed that families earning less than $25K / year or 5 times more likely to get audited. The fact that billionaires have teams of tax lawyers and accountants to avoid taxes and IRS audits, while average American families do not have those resources

The problem really isn't the 87,000 hires. . .the problem is that a bunch of government accountants were given enough guns and ammo to be a militia. Why does the IRS need to be armed? If they have to go after someone then use the local police, or heck, even the FBI to do the arresting.

Good point- that is why they say we dont need armed police to go to a cat in the tree call.
Keep your nose clean, dont cheat on your taxes, dont commit crimes and you have a 99.9% chance of never being accused of a crime.

no, I'm not afraid, but I'm not fooled that if the gov't doubles the amount of cops when the gov't says they plan to reduce the amount of arrests. Clearly, they plan on more arrests.
