I'm an anti-theist agnostic, political moderate and social libertarian. The hill on which I've chosen to die is pointing out the incongruity when a person's freely chosen beliefs involve refusing to acknowledge the validity of other people's freely chosen beliefs. Freedom of choice in belief is all or nothing. Either everyone has it or no one does. As such, any belief that denies the validity of other beliefs also invalidates itself.

Not agree with, not tolerate, not even accept other beliefs--merely acknowledge that the right to freely choose personal beliefs applies to everyone. Regardless of what they are, anyone who cannot do that does not deserve to have their own beliefs taken seriously. And that is my main beef with organized relgion as practiced, but that's another story.

I'll gaf about that as soon as it's put alongside all the disparagement Obama got over his 8 years in office.

It's telling to see how the mods play favorites, just like school teachers, law enforcement and most other humans, regardless of how impartial their role is supposed to be. There are a lot of abstract, passively worded, hypothetical comments here that all serve to convey contempt for other people. They're all still up, except for mine, which was taken down for "insulting other users" even though it used the same passive, hypothetical wording. The difference is that it contained swearing. (The other removed comment was an overt insult.)

Was the mod a hypocrite? Too dense to comprehend writting? Perhaps I was flagged by some (non-specific, hypothetical) crybaby snowflake because I offended their delicate sensibilities, and the mods only assess content shoved under their noses?

I'm just contemplating the human tragedy of so many people suffering, and the meaning of your handle. I admit it's easier not to care, especially when all you have to go on is the regurgitated bile fed to you by whatever "news" sources you deem credible. Not in what is supposed to be a demilitarized zone. That would get filed under a more right-wing stream, just like republican bashing would go under a more left-wing stream. This stream is allegedly for respectful, constructive criticisms and debate. In practice it's the stream that's a joke because the memes and comments that comprise 90+% of it are the anything but.

Although now that I think about it, giving a bunch of anons an online forum for discussions about politics and expecting them to be civil is like inventing dynamite and expecting it to be used constructively. Completely and utterly fails to recognize the baseness of human nature. I suppose by that logic it's my fault for expecting this whole stream to be much more than a cesspool of venom and bile.
