Why don’t you pull up the world happiness index and see what they tell you about it.

"For the fifth year in a row, Finland is the world's happiest country, according to World Happiness Report rankings based largely on life evaluations from the Gallup World Poll.
The Nordic country and its neighbors Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Iceland all score very well on the measures the report uses to explain its findings: healthy life expectancy, GDP per capita, social support in times of trouble, low corruption and high social trust, generosity in a community where people look after each other and freedom to make key life decisions.
Denmark comes in at No. 2 in this year's rankings, followed by Iceland at No. 3. Sweden and Norway are seventh and eighth, respectively."

The only reason America isn’t up there is because there’s a bunch of angry atheist blue haired lesbians burning down building and naked men marching around cities. Happiness is a choice. What dictates wether you decide to covet other people’s possessions instead rejoicing in your own. All it takes to be happy is a pair boxing gloves, a dog, a shooting range, an oddly large amount of philosophy books, and at least two siblings.

America is in the top 20. It's number 16. Lol. Anyway, the Nordics are happier and that's the bottom line. They're doing something right.

They ARE doing something right.

But whatever that thing may be, it sure isn't socialism! 😉

You realize the reason their taxes are lower is because of their policies that YOU ARE EXPLICITLY OPPOSED TO. They have free healthcare- you call it communism. They have free university- you're opposed to it. You don't like rehabilitating criminals. These are all things YOU YOURSELF say are communist. You have more in common with a Marxist-Leninist than you do with a centre-right fiscal conservative. "socialist plan economy" Also, this means a socialist economy where the government plans it, which doesn't mean they aren't following a Democratic Socialist policy agenda.
0 ups, 2y
The *government* still plans the economy... Must have hit the wrong autocomplete...
0 ups, 2y
A left-wing agenda generates wealth in the hands of the middle class. It then moves up the chain and generates more tax money.
0 ups, 2y
So you think... Their taxes are lower because they are socialist?

WTF?

That doesn't make sense. The money has to come from somewhere. And it does come from taxes. They have a 25% Value -Added tax that pays for most of their big social programs. All I was saying earlier was that their CORPORATE tax was lower, which would be a big no-go in the eyes of socialists like Comrade Bernie or Alexandria Occasional-Cortex.

They don't have those things. They have GOVERNMENT SUBSIDIZED healthcare and college. The money is still provided by the people, through taxes. It's not free.

But, as I have said before, a few big social programs do not a socialist country make.

Also I am not opposed to rehabilitation. Ask, don't assume ;)

Uh-huh... And I'm the Queen of England.

Even in a supposedly "democratic-socialist" state (which is in some ways worse than a dictatorship), the good still plans the economy.

I mean, seriously, one of the largest and most widespread companies in the world is based in Denmark... LEGO! A huge CORPORATION! If they really were socialist, then Lego would be gone by now.

However, in the past those countries actually had many MORE socialist policies and han today. They got rid of them after they saw what a massive failure they were. Those '70s era policies drove Swedish icon IKEA out of the country. Socialism doesn't work there anymore than it doesn't work anywhere else. Also, in 2019, much of Finland's coalition government resigned after failing to reform it's collapsing government subsidized healthcare system.

In short, the Nordics aren't nearly socialist, and what small parts of their economies are don't work.

It sure is. They're doing Moderate Democratic Socialism.
0 ups, 2y
Are they though?

In a 2015 speech, the prime minister of denmark,Lars Rasmussen, said, "some people in the US associate the Nordic model with some sort of socialism. Therefore, I would like to make one thing clear. Denmark is far from a socialist plan economy. Denmark is a market economy"

Exactly. that's Moderate Democratic Socialism, it's a mixed market-based economy.
0 ups, 2y
So you're saying the Danish prime Minister was confused, lying, or just wrong when he said that Denmark is a market economy? He is, after all, just a little more Scandinavian than you.

I find it funny how socialist continue to pedal the Scandinavian Socialism myth. Sure, those countries do have social programs, even in some cases very large programs, but then again, so does the US, and you wouldn't exactly call them socialist, now would you?

Really, in many ways, the Scandinavian countries are less socialist than the United States. For starters, prior to the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017, the United States is corporate tax rate was higher than all of those Scandinavian countries, and even after the TCAJA two Scandinavian countries still beat them out - Finland and Iceland.

It's also worth noting that there are other taxes are relatively flat as well, having only small increases from each teir, as opposed to the US.

In fact, the conservative Heritage Foundation, in 2018 and 2019, ranked Scandinavian countries equal to or higher than the United States in business freedom. Keep in mind, that's a conservative organization.

It works in the happiest countries on Earth, the Nordics. Also, only 10% tax? Most people pay more than that! Tax the rich at 25% or more and use it to fund, the middle class don't get their fair share and the rich run the government AND decide your political opinions for you.

What exactly is the “rich”? Is it the 5th quintile? Is it the upper half of the 5th quintile? Is it simply anyone over the 51st percentile of wealth? I’m pretty “the rich” that decide our political opinions is Mr. 82 million voters.

The average Amazon employee makes about $100,000 there’s 1,600,000 Amazon Employees you multiply that by 100,000 and it equals 160 billion. It’s basic math that you should have learned in middle school.

Of income, or wealth? For an example someone who makes $104,000 a year is in the 5th quintile of income, on the contrary you need a net worth of around $600,000 to be in the 5th quintile of wealth. You need to make over half a million dollars in order to get into the 100th percentile of income. And to get to the final point the 59th< percentile pays about 95% of taxes and the 100th percentile pays about 40% of federal income taxes. Stop crying about your “not paying their fair share” BS. Graduate middle school and get a job. Get a dog if you’re not happy, baby sit for a friend, grow a garden, go to the gym, start eating a healthy diet, etc. you’ll be happy in no time.

I'm not happy because of the fact that Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk, Bill Gates, and other BILLIONAIRES pay less tax than the AVERAGE AMERICAN!
0 ups, 2y,
1 reply
Although that is true they still contribute more to the economy then the average American. If Bezos is paying 1.6 million people for Amazon 3.3 thousand Washington Post employers. That means with Amazon alone he’s putting somewhere around 150-180 billion dollars back into the economy every year. So even if he’s only paying a 1% tax rate he’s still helping the spread of wealth more than the average American.

Huh? You have no idea what you’re talking about. You can’t just make stuff up. The Nordic countries are: Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden;

The Danish Income Tax Rate
is around 45%. This led to Denmark having the one of the highest share of taxes among the 38 OECD member countries.

The tax rate in Finland increased by 1.3 percentage points from 41.4% in 2020 to 42.7% in 2021. Finland had the 8th highest tax wedge among the 38 OECD member countries.

The Personal Income Tax Rate in Iceland astronomical and is 46.25 percent. They only have 333k people too.

The tax rate in Norway remained unchanged at 35.8% in 2019 and 2020. In 2020, Norway had the 21st highest tax wedge among the 37 OECD member countries.

Sweden's tax tax rate is 32.34 per cent. Earners above a certain income threshold set by the Tax Agency also pay 20 per cent state tax.

The total COMBINED population of all those countries is: 27,456,000

The total population of just my state, California, is: 39.35 million

I already pay at a 53%tax rate for Fed and Cal. How much more can you bleed me dry?
