... Elliot Page shouldn't be talking about his surgery until you get taller? Do I have that right?

Elliot Page can do what he wants. My criticism was toward the medical community who performs these surgeries. Why have they spent so much time and effort and research on these types of surgeries, and yet we still don't have a decent, affordable surgery to increase height?

Actually they do.

Ok. So, they're not supposed to be giving surgeries that they can already do to people who want them until you're taller? Is that close to what you're getting at?

I'm saying it would be nice if they could spend an equal amount of time, effort, and research into developing a surgery to increase height as they have with sex reassignment surgeries.

Look, help me out here, because I'm not getting where you're coming from.

When you approached a doctor requesting limb lengthening surgery, what happened? Was it the price tag? Because the transgender community are very much your allies in getting the point-of-access costs lower or even free.

I was waiting for his reply so I could surprise him with the good news about this promising new technique that has been around since decades before he was born.

I'm not saying transgender people are opponents with regards to the price of limb-lengthening surgeries.

I'm saying that it's absurd that the medical community has devoted as much time, effort, and research as it has into developing cosmetic procedures for something that only afflicts less than 1% of the population, while doing far less to develop surgical procedures for another type of body dissatisfaction that affects a MUCH larger percentage of the population.

Ok. But. There IS a procedure for what you're asking for. So, tell me what the problem was when you tried to get it so that I can understand what has your braids in a twist?

Currently the most advanced limb-lengthening procedures involve using medieval contraptions fixated to the outside of the legs, with rods boring into the flesh to gradually pull the bones apart, and add a couple inches of height over the course of months. There are also internal fixator rods implanted into the femur to do the same thing. These procedures are excruciating and cost in the ballpark of $75,000 at the least.

I don't understand why we don't have anything more advanced and affordable than this. Couldn't we just implant a piece of cadaver bone into the femur? Or transplant the femur entirely from someone who was taller? Or replace the femur entirely with an artificial one (similar to a hip replacement)?

Well, the most advanced gender reassignment surgeries really aren't that much better. In fact, cosmetic surgery in general - even at its most elaborate - operates on the basis that if they take something from one part of your body and put it in another, the part that shows makes you happier than the loss of function in the part that they took it from. Gum grafts are taken from the roof of your mouth. Breast replacement surgery for cancer survivors are often taken from muscles in your back or leg or abdomen.

I don't think you quite realize just how much in the same boat you actually are as the transgender community. And instead of using them as a reason to get upset, maybe you can ally with them and light a fire under the feet of the medical community to think and innovate more in line with what is better for you.

Basic pot calling the kettle, "lucky for not getting burned as much."

But those surgeries for trans people are clearly many times more affordable than the cheapest limb-lengthening procedures, as is evidenced by how so many transgender bimbos are able to afford bottom surgery on top of their hormones and other implants, and how so many FTM guys who are barely out of high school can get top surgery.

Furthermore, many guys have to go abroad to find surgeons who are willing to perform limb-lengthening surgeries.

I have no issue with allying with trans people for better medical procedures, but the question is: are trans people willing to have the same empathy for the body dissatisfaction of straight cis males?

Oh, clearly, huh? It's clear to the person who's never needed to use them or have them that they're everything you could ask for and more.

How convincing.
