The "pro-life" movement is less obviously insane than QAnon, but it ends in the same place: Our political opponents kill babies.

The "pro-life" movement is less obviously insane than QAnon, but it ends in the same place: Our political opponents kill babies. | The "Pro-Life" movement isn't really about saving kids or helping families. How do we know that? If it were, then it would be spending a lot more time and energy expanding paid family leave, free early childhood education, raising the minimum wage, and effecting other common-sense expansions to the social safety net that would help support more American women in a voluntary decision to raise a child. Yet Republican proposals to do any of these things are basically nonexistent. WHAT'S REALLY GOING ON HERE? Something far more disturbing. The "pro-life" label betrays a pathological need to define political opponents as "baby-killers." The antecedent for this in early modern history is the "blood libel" that was directed at Jews and used to justify anti-Semitic pogroms. A modern twist on this bigotry is QAnon, an internet conspiracy theory which claims, essentially, that "deep state" Democrats are pedophiles. Beware: a movement that defines women's healthcare as baby-murder is one that can't be reasoned with, and which will gladly resort to violence of its own. | image tagged in pro-life,qanon,conservative logic, conspiracy theory, abortion, blood libel | made w/ Imgflip meme maker

Bold claims I've made, but there is a long history of violence associated with the "pro-life" crowd - the Colorado Springs Planned Parenthood shooter, for instance.

Ironic from a movement that claims to stand for "life." But if you really, truly believe your opponents are "killing babies," then violence comes to seem acceptable, to some.

Even those pro-lifers who never commit a mass shooting at an abortion clinic are conditioned to regard their political opponents as not just wrong, but fundamentally evil, entitled to no respect and not worth working with on any level.

Has the pro-life movement contributed to a toxic polarization in our politics, which has increasingly left America unable to accomplish basically anything significant? No doubt.

The Founders warned us against intermingling religion with the state. This is why!

I swear, Republicans don't care about governance or actual problems. They just run in office so their radioactive hatred can spread further and cause more issues.

Anti-abortion radicals have a history of intimidation, harassment, violence, terrorism, and murder going back decades. That won't change now that some states will outlaw abortion.
