A “back-alley abortion” can refer to all sorts of things, it’s hard to comment on it without being more specific.

Mifepristone and misoprostol are a combination of medications that induce an early miscarriage. Heavy flow with cramping, like a bad period. It can be painful, so it’s good to have some over-the-counter stuff like Midol handy, but it carries minimal risk.

The earlier in pregnancy one terminates, the better, for all sorts of reasons. Medical and moral.

But no, it’s not a back-alley abortion. Thankfully, modern medicine means fewer people will have to resort to that. Just one of the cool ways science can defeat religious zealots’ attempts to impose theocracy here. 😎
