I was having a conversation with a guy yesterday about gas prices and he was saying with all seriousness that Joe Biden made it illegal to drill oil in the United States and that we have to buy all of our oil from Russia and that’s why gas prices are so high. And I really tried to explain to him the real reasons for gas prices going up in the core of it is supply and demand as well as corporate greed. You can blame Joe Biden for some things but gas prices aren’t one of them. He started saying something about how Joe Biden personally should make the oil companies sell all of the oil and gas in the United States. I then went on to say that if the government forced the oil companies to pump more oil and sell it only to the United States that would actually be Socialism or in someways communism. And then I asked “you certainly wouldn’t want that would you?” And he said “well if it lowers my gas prices I’m OK with it.”
That’s all it takes for these right wingers to embrace Socialism…if it benefits them. Just like anything else they’re ready to be hypocritical on any stance they take as long as it benefits them.
