Well uncle Ben is 85 in a wheelchair chair and can't work the nursing home won't hire him,. Is it fair to pay below poverty income to someone who worked from 15 to 73? And half the employers failed to pay into social security on his behalf before computers and through audits?

You mean the wage gap for retired income earning social security recipients, compared to the rest of those working on minimum wage for 40 hours? When grandma makes 813 a month, that doesn't flip the bill for the nursing home.

If you’ve got time to play on imgflip, you’ve got time to get a second job and take care of your grandpa. Quit making excuses.

Nobody has kids to rely on them flipping the bill. It's an analogy. One day you will be old with nobody but retirement and a nurse because nobody will have time for you when they're to busy working for a living like every one else slaving away for the American economy. The government use to protect the elderly and meek, now they are digging their graves. No empathy for the elderly who tried to keep the country together, ranged in wars and seen it all. Just to get stuck in a consumption biased nightmare where self reliance and resourcefulness flew out the window during the late 60s

So I take it you make more than minimum wage and don't have a family of four or are a single mother or father.

I’m 51. Of course so make more than minimum wage. Any 51 year old making minimum wage has made some very serious life choices. I was in the military from age 17 to 39. Got a full retirement pension ($3700 per month) & full medical for entire family. I’ve also been working in finance and accounting since then, and my wife is an attorney. I have a wife and two kids. I’ve made all the right decisions and blamed nobody but myself for the decisions I’ve made. I grew up dirt poor with two immigrant Polish parents and went into the military because (1) I wanted to serve my country and was a proud first generation American, (2) knew that it could help me get educated and (3) provide me with a pension and medical before i was 40.

Well thank you for your service, but I hope you do realize what the government paid military members pre 50s is no where near the amount they shell out to pay warriors now. I personally come from a family that has served in every war from the civil war, to desert storm. To be quiet frank nobody from the younger generation has joined in the lost cause. But just so you know people don't make the same kinda money you do because American has 50 states that have different wage guidelines. Try to have some reality that not everyone gets rich from immigrating to America and fighting in war. It's great that once again the government forgets about those who don't have it as eazy. You faught for America and it's system, why are you against the system helping the elderly? They worked hard to retire to, went through the ups and downs of the market, and shoddy business practices. I just don't understand why you think it's ok for the elderly to live in American poverty. Or anyone at that. Not everyone had the capacity to do what you did.
