Because minors are not bound by 'contracts'. Technically a minor could by a candy bar, pay for it, get the receipt, open and take one bite of the candy bar then demand the money back. Being transgender is similar to being gay in that there isn't something there to correct. Gender-affirming care is the recommended treatment for patients experiencing gender dysphoria or transition to a different gender. Deadnaming or misgendering patients and trying to get them to accept living in the wrong body does not work.

There have been trans people throughout history. Amelio Robles Ávila was a transgender man who lived from 1889 to 1984 and partook in the Mexican Revolution. Gender reassignment surgery was performed in Germany before the Nazis burned down the clinic. Trans and third gender people date at least as far back as ancient Egypt.
