I believe that everyone has equal rights under the law. That doesn't mean that every crime is equal to a similar crime or that all police, court officials and others behave exactly the same. We have many hours of videos of the 1/6 crimes, including those made by cop's body cams and rioters' selfies. In addition, the many comments made by those arrested for 1/6 crimes are unique.
I have said, and I will repeat it here, that people who did not enter the building, or get in the way of law enforcement in any way should have all charges dropped. I can see how someone who thought they were at a purely political event would get "fired up," and go overboard a little. I don't have to agree with someone's politics to give them a benefit of a doubt, in such cases. People accused of destroying property, entering the Capitol past signs saying no to or climbing through broken windows and broken doors, are another matter. And anyone who is accused of assaulting a cop, on any occasion, should have the opportunity to explain their actions before a judge and jury. I worked with an avowed racist who became a cop with the LAPD and became a Member of the Police Commission. So, they are not all perfect. But the other cops I have known just wanted to make their communities safe. Most of the bad ones stick out like sore thumbs. Sorry about the long answer. But, you asked a question that begged for a complete answer.
