If you enjoy living in a chemical fog because 8 farmers in the area used Hitler farming chemical application methods than be my guest. Who do you think has been funding the chemical and seed industry? It use to be that a farmer could save and replant his own seeds, those days are gone due to seed contracts, and the expense of buying unpatented seeds in bulk.

I am afraid you are misinformed. One of the advantages of many GMO crops is that the seeds are coated with some of the implements organic farmers have to spray. The new better way also reduces the harm to the environment of all those extra trips tractors take through the fields spraying toxic organic pesticides, etc.

And you do realize wheat is a winter crop, so it needs to be planted before winter. It's to late now to plant wheat in the agriculture belt of America. Which is to bad. It seems Putin might have also planed it that way. Plus you have the Government subsidizing what farmers can grow. Organic farmers are growing produce in green houses and orchards, not cropland. Very few cash crops can even be considered organic. Plus the grain elevators aren't going to separate organic crops. Organic cash crops have to be transported to separate buyers and processed separately. Most farmers can't afford to drop off their harvest 1,000 of miles away.

I can tell that your heart is in the right place. But you are woefully uninformed. Organic food production is a multi-billion-dollar industry. Many organic food products travel thousands of miles from China. Maybe your local farmer's market features lots of greenhouse grown organics from quaint farms that have to sell locally. Most organics are grown on large farms. Organic farmers use pesticides and herbicides. People have bought into organics as a "responsible," lifestyle. But the organic farmer produces more CO2 per acre of land, producing less food. They let their cattle suffer through bacterial infections to avoid antibiotics. And, in the end, Organic steer and chickens are killed so you can eat them. I am sure they are "responsibly," killed.

"Organic farmers use pesticides and herbicides"

Oh, I guess that's why it's certified organic

It will take years to restore Ukraine to a place where they can produce and distribute food. We can substitute other crops for wheat this year and grow more wheat the next few years.

I hope you also take the time, and know the knowledge to grow a personal supply of food yearly to sustain you through the winter and into the year. Not everyone has that luxury because they live in apartments, and it's a hassle to use community gardens that don't agree in the same cultivating practices as each individual. Keep a eye out for all those farmers market that say everything is grown locally, when actually the boxes tell a different story, and the growing season makes them a liar. I get a kick out of all the fools shopping at farmers markets believing the pathetic liars who have no clue how hard it is to grow true organics from their back yard, and tout locally grown fresh produce when they actually picked it up from a grocery wholesaler. Or made the drive to Florida. California is the only state that has laws and investigators who actually fine and detain liars who say the food is grown locally, when actually its just being resold. I wish more states would follow California's footsteps. It would really help the struggling local hobbyist, and actually allow them to get into selling fresh grown produce in the local market.

Is this in the Durham Report?

RT ran a large share of anti-GMO stories on its front pages. Putin's disinformation machine was focused on the extreme left as well as the extreme right. That's how disrupting the social order works.
Gazprom money was traced to an anti-fracking organization, as well. Ironically, I read a report today that Putin has tapped the Internet Research Agency--the 2016 disinformation source identified by McConnell's Senate report and US intelligence agencies--for his Ukraine disinformation effort. And, then you showed up with a classic IRA denial. How are things in Petrograd, Tovarisch?

Blossoms are out, women are sporting the spring fashion clothes, and the Baltic Sea beach resorts are getting ready for an influx of Russian tourists

Ukraine feeds over 400 million world wide with just grain alone. Sounds like the market has a need.

Here is an agriculture news story about recent breakthroughs in GMO Wheat. It doesn't mention glyphosate even in passing. It also does not mention the killing of crops with herbicides prior to harvesting.

When health is the topic, like food, then guess what?
Keep eating grains that are doused in glycophophates and keep getting boosters if you feel that's what makes you healthy.
Big Pharma and Big Agra put your health first and profitability second, so always trust them.

Yeah genius. Glyphosate is used to kill weeds prior to planting. Food which was doused with organic implements, caused the widespread poisoning of people eating at Chipotles a couple of years ago. But, why bother with facts.

Check out the LD-50 lethal levels for table salt and vinegar. "Glyphosate has lower acute toxicity to humans than 94% of all herbicides and many common household chemicals, including vinegar and table salt. Glyphosate also has lower chronic toxicity to humans than 90% of all herbicides." Glyphosate (Roundup): Understanding Risks to Human Health, Penn State Extension, APRIL 24, 2019

For the record crops are not doused in glyphosate. Glyphosate is sprayed on weeds before crops are planted. Organic foods are doused with animal feces, pesticides and herbicides. That is why they are more toxic than Glyphosate.

But, "why bother," with facts.

Sure, aspirin, naproxen, and ibuprofen have a higher LD 50 too.

Glyphosate is sprayed on grain right before harvest because it lets the seed separate from the stock.

I'd rather eat plants than have not been engineered to not produce essential amino acids;

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glyphosate

"It inhibits a plant enzyme involved in the synthesis of three aromatic amino acids: tyrosine, tryptophan, and phenylalanine. "

https://www.gmoevidence.com/glyphosate-is-a-potential-hazard-factor-for-coronary-artery-disease/

Thanks for suggesting that I do more research. Those engineered plants and that dreadful weed killer are far more dangerous than I thought.

If you cherry pick "research," from anti-gmo sources, that is the type of propaganda you will find. But, if you go straight to the experts, farmers, you will find that most of them have never done this and question its value. About 3% of farmers report that they have used glyphosate to kill their plants, but their explanations as to why are questioned by experienced farmers. Here is an article from an industry journal that explains this.

The number of propaganda sources restating the same false information posted on Social Media by IRA are supposed to give the impression that this non-problem is wide-spread. It is not.

I am a Democrat, and most of the farmers I am defending are Republicans. They would never risk the lives of their customers in any way. Farming is their lives. They would not risk it to protect Monsanto or any other company.

0 ups, 3y,
1 reply
I am 100% for a free market.

By the way, a little farmer birdie tells me that wheat is naturally resistant to glyphosate. So, if you sprayed it on wheat, you would not kill it. So, the 3% who use this kill method must be using another herbicide, probably an organic one.

China bought one of the largest GMO manufacturers a few years ago. A number of years back, extremists forced American Rare Earth refining out of business. Now we are beholden to China for almost all the refined Rare Earths that go into solar power and a long list of technical applications. This ties our hands in terms of clean energy development and drives up prices.

People like "why bother," want you to buy into their conspiracies that are aimed at making America weaker, not "First." The like Russian disinformation, whether it is aimed at the right or left of the political spectrum. History shows that when people are riled up, dictators can stage coups. Just because they failed on 1-6-21, does not mean they have given up.
