There's a talk radio host here in Denver, Michael Brown (of "Brownie, you're doing a heck of a job." fame - former FEMA Chief under George W during Katrina) - that calls it the "Taxpayer Relief Shot" since, if the home intruder dies, then it's a lot less cost to the taxpayer compared to trials and, god-willing, incarceration (not a given in today's political climate).

Wellllllllllllll . . . leftists ARE trying to push the cost of ammunition so high that the average gun owner cannot afford to load-up. They intend to end meaningful private gun ownership . . . one way or the other.

As the second amendment says the gib’s shall not infringe on my right to bear arms, that means more than not regulating my gun possession. It also means guns should not have sales tax as the power to tax is the power to destroy & applied to not tax churches, it also means not infringing on my ammo and reloading supplies as that is part of bearing arms.

Obviously I agree; but the Left intends to get around that stuff by passing endless little laws, chipping away at all of that one tiny bite at a time so that in the end while the amendment remains in place it effectively has been neutered.
