Lol. Here’s where the rubber meets the road of what conservatives have been taught that liberals believe vs. what liberals *actually* believe.
Liberals don’t “hate families.” We’re not trying to “dismantle them.” Quite the opposite.
The Democratic Party’s family-oriented policies include the expanded child tax credit, a higher minimum wage, paid family leave, universal pre-K, shoring up our public schools, etc. — all passed with varying degrees of success over Republican and “moderate” (i.e. conservative) Democratic opposition.
Your eyes are glazing over. But the Republican Party’s preferred “solutions” — raging against Disney, denying them self-governing status, etc. — will do precisely nothing for working families in Florida or anywhere in America.
The idea Democrats hate families is a triumph of RWNJ propaganda and nothing else.
Side-note: Encanto depicts an “extended family,” (3+ generations living in the same household, cousins, aunts & uncles, etc.). Extended family was the “traditional” family unit in America for a long time until the “nuclear family” became the predominant mode in the 1950s. The nuclear family is one kind of family, but it’s not the only one.
Modern political commentators have indeed criticized the “nuclear family”… from the Right.
