No you’re thinking of any ea game you get gear in matches and all pickaxes are the same and each match you only have your pickaxe that you cannot drop and spending money is completely optional so you can be completely free to play and still be on equal footing because everyone starts with the same things (being just a pickaxe) can get the same loot (for that match only) and the only real thing that gives an advantage is skill

Also they say in the item shop screen that cosmetics don't give an advantage and are completely optional

You can buy the battle pass with v bucks. If you have to pay to unlock parts of a FREE game, that counts as P2W. Minecraft is not a P2W

It’s doesn’t give an advantage and they point out that they are optional, because everyone has an almost equal chance of winning with the only factors affecting it being your skill and how lucky you got in terms of loot (guns heals etc.)
