Penguin was actually going to be a gamechanger for transportation. Get one of those suckers on an ice boat path in the nether and you'll go CRAZY fast. Armadillo was only voted for its cuteness (who's gonna use wolf armor? Nobody fights with their dogs), and the Crab would've been really neat for building.
