Germany and Japan wouldn’t be rubber-stamp votes for the use of force. They’re fairly pacifist. But, that’s kind of the point. Any U.N. Security Council proposal that could carry the support of U.S., U.K., France, Germany, and Japan is one to be taken seriously.
What we have now has become a broken system, with increasingly-authoritarian Russia and China able to veto anything that smells like accountability.
The League of Nations was dissolved in 1946 to make way for the U.N. in the wake of WWII. It may be time for a similar rethink.
