Only if they are the descendants of slave owners. Anyone whose family didn't own or oppress slaves shouldn't be required to pay their descendants. I myself wouldn't pay anyone because my position is that debt was paid over 350,000 times by union soldiers, white AND black.

No. Descendants of slave owners are NOT guilty of what their distant ancestors did . . . otherwise everyone with something nefarious in their family background -- even if they knew nothing about it growing up -- MUST be fined -- at the very least -- for whatever wrong their distant ancestors ever did.

You're right. But if ANYONE should pay, it shouldn't be the descendants of people who had nothing to do with slavery.

It should be the people in Africa who initially put them in slavery.

Ali is saying that life in USA is much better than life in Africa today. He has a legitimate point. Look at the per capita incomes of the USA versus equatorial African countries. Even poverty level in USA is better than average income in Africa.
