I'm an anti-capitalist because I almost didn't have a place to live for myself. Housing options are scarce on a low-income and in recent years properties have become concentrated into fewer hands (y'know, like Marx said would happen with businesses). I'm an anti-capitalist because I'm expected to grind myself at work to make their profits and provide myself a meager wage. And because capitalism champions property rights as freedom, they can fire me for any reason and I can be kicked out of my building and wind up homeless all because I can't pay and didn't submit.

The U.S. already scores in mediocrity at almost everything. I’m a convicted felon thanks to the ridiculous criminal system in the U.S. So if I tried to leave and got caught I could go to prison. Plus, I don’t have money to leave. I’d also have to leave behind friends and family.

I can go to school because I have a business owner grandfather who’s able to pay for it, I found a job after literally everywhere else turned me down based on my record and where I live isn’t that great.

I’m not saying I didn’t make mistakes, I just don’t think I should have to suffer so much, economically and mentally, for something I did in high school. I’ve been to inpatient three times since 2020. No punishment should be so severe that I think my only option is to end my life because there’s no way forward.
