Prior to 1977, we did not have a Department of Energy. That huge cabinet level department was created during the Carter administration because the United States was held hostage by Iran and OPEC for the oil that they produced. The goal was to wean; the United States off of Foreign Oil from hostile countries. Kindly tell me what this behemoth of a bureaucracy has done to actually fix that problem in the 45 years that they have been in existence.
