I heard over a decade ago how Congress was going to vote on a law that would prohibit them from insider trading, as they were privy to info that was illegal for any of the public to know. I don't know how the vote went, but if you look, that's how most of them made their millions, in stocks but with the added advantage of said info.
Even if they can no longer do so legally, that wont stop some of their pals from sharing such tips with them.

Yes, banning Congress critters from unfairly taking advantage of their political positions is given token consideration every once in a while -- and sometimes a bill with HUGE loopholes -- is actually passed and then promptly end-run by the very same people whom passed it. Politicians generally are the most aggressive and self-aggrandizing and ego ridden part of the populace, and so once they gain office then ethics and honor and integrity are the first things that get flushed.

There might be a few rare decent ones peppered in, but I try not to pay too close attention because they all turn out to be annoying self serving ego tripping crooks and I'm irritated enough with everything already as is.

Sometimes they get book deals. Sometimes it is insider trading. It is illegal when we do it but no big deal when congress does it. Sometimes it is graft. Most of the time it is George Soros and Hansjörg Wyss, laundered through one 501c 3 after another. They are the ones pulling Biden's puppet strings. In fact there is nothing the Democrats do unless it is approved by these two control freaks.
