They've just implicated themselves in a crime by making this statement. As the Trump organization accountant, if the financial statements are unreliable, they're claiming to have committed a financial fraud. Accountants aren't lawyers, there is no privilege to protect them or their clients. Additionally, there is no proof submitted with the letter to corroborate their statements - it holds as true as anything you have ever posted. Just because you stated "orange man bad" does not actually make it so.

Actually, they have extricated themselves from possible crimes, by their actions.

Aren't you the same guy who, earlier today said he doesn't make excuses?

Who's making excuses? I gave two possible scenarios and warned you against passing any judgement before the facts can be reviewed....twice, on this page....today.

So you're admitting that Trump committed fraud?

I'm pointing out that anyone can say anything, and they often do. Unlike the media organizations and certain imgflippers, I'm withholding my opinion until actual proof arrives. I waited on "russian dossier" proof, and was rewarded for it. I waited on "russian collusion" proof, and was rewarded for it. I waited on the "pee pee tape", and was rewarded for it. I waited on the "whipping migrants", and was rewarded for it. There's a pattern here - and it is quite obvious to anyone with an attention span longer than a nanosecond - the media are partisan liars.

It seems that the safe bet when presented with a sensational headline is to wait for it to be proven false.

I'm also pointing out that if an accounting firm, responsible for the financial statements of an organization, comes out saying that decades of financial statements should be retracted - that accounting firm has just called their own credibility into question. Either they're telling the truth about lying, or they're lying about telling the truth - either way, they're liars.

There are many valid reasons to treat this information as suspect. It looks like a trap for the gullible, and I have not been gullible since the 70's.

Why do you have to exaggerate? Ten years is one decade, not "decades."

That's what you focus on? You're pathetic.

Exaggeration is a method of lying, without appearing to do so. You paint a picture of yourself as a pure and truthful soul. It is an interesting contradiction.

That's a tiny tiny hill for you to defend. Is that all you can say?

True that.

I don't know how many outside accounting firms you have had work for you. I have had a couple. They don't, as a rule create all of the information that goes into their various filings. But they have an assumed relationship that requires they put the interests of their client ahead of all others. It is usual for the outside accounting firm to create the company's "Financial Statement." This is the most important document they create. It is used to justify asking banks and other investors for money. It is important that all the information in this document is true. Otherwise, the company has committed fraud in obtaining loans. An accounting firm accepts the numbers provided to it by the company. The only time they might question these numbers is if they seem to be grossly inconsistent with current trends and norms. Another reason an accounting firm might question numbers is if a trusted third party provides information that contradicts what the company provided. That appears to be what has happened here.

The accounting firm employs tax lawyers. If these legal experts have had contacts with investigators from the city and state of New York, they might be now aware that incorrect information was contained in the ten years of financial statements, that they had previously assumed to be true. The lawyers would not allow Mazars to continue to represent a client who had provided information that was not factual and legal. If a client provided false information for ten years, a pattern exists suggesting that they intended to mislead others or commit fraud. The accounting firm would be bound to obey the law and not produce fraudulent documents. They would also have a problem continuing to represent these documents as true statements. They could not put their firm at risk to be sued for losses incurred by lenders as a result of believing the Financial Reports to be true documents. If they have good reason to consider information they have included in past documents to be untrue, they must choose to protect their own interests over the interests of the client. That would create a "conflict of interests." The reason Mazars USA gave for quitting as the accounting firm for The Trump Organization was conflict of interests.

The controversies you cite where you "waited," and somehow feel vindicated by the outcome are not like this one. I suggest that you consider one you overlooked, the now defunct Trump Foundation. It is a microcosm of this one.

I'm sure that threats of justice department investigations create quite a conflict of interest.

How were you "rewarded" for all that waiting? 😄

I was not wrong. You should try it some time.

All Trump supporters are gullible. That's why they're Trump supporters.

OK Mr Orange Man Bad, tell us please - how many times was Rachel Maddow correct about anything she said about Trump?

If he could be trusted to be discreet, I would like for him to get a conditional Pardon, like Nixon did. I think he has gotten used to pushing things as far as people allow him to. That and his lack of empathy make him ill-suited for public office. If he is sentenced to prison, that will just confirm his martyrdom with his followers. The world needs for him to simply fade away.

You know, it would have been a nice ending for his "legacy", had he of just faded away. Develope a "presidential" golf course, country club (we know his library would be pictures of him, no real content, maybe a retired set of clubs). Just get out of the driver seat, and let his children at it!

Just think, he always could take a job doing Russian State Radio during drive time slots, if he wanted to stay relevent! Its a win win for Pooty poot!

Just about every loan that he has which is outstanding relied on these financial statements. I do not know enough about the contracts he has with his lenders, but, they are all probably making individual and collective decisions about what to do. They have been told indirectly that they cannot rely on him. The stock of banks with large loans to him, could be affected.

I am reminded of Shakespeare's "Timon of Athens." Timon is a rich crook, who was once tolerated by the "Rich and Famous." who turn on him when he is convicted of financial crimes. Timon is exiled for his misdeeds. He looks back on the gate of Athens as he is leaving and delivers a soliloquy, that is soooo Trump. Here are the first few lines:

"Let me look back upon thee. O thou wall,
That girdlest in those wolves, dive in the earth,
And fence not Athens! Matrons, turn incontinent!
Obedience fail in children! slaves and fools,
Pluck the grave wrinkled senate from the bench,
And minister in their steads! to general filths
Convert o' the instant, green virginity,
Do 't in your parents' eyes! bankrupts, hold fast;
Rather than render back, out with your knives,
And cut your trusters' throats! bound servants, steal!"

Timon of Athens is a quick read. And it is relevant to today's news.
