Well the climate is changing, but it's been changing for all of Earth's history and we're not all going to die if we don't mandate solar energy or something.

facts.

It's not as urgent as the media make it out to be but it does exist. So yeah, try and reduce carbon footprints but there are more important matters happening today like poverty, inflation and trying to plug your ears while listening to Dr Fauci.

Exactly. A lot of the false panic created is, I think, a money scheme. Politicians get lobbying money, and companies get subsidies. What's really funny though, is how the cleanest form of energy, nuclear, is automatically shut down for being "too dangerous", despite having only 200 deaths in its entire 70 year history.

In brief, I'm skeptical of anthropogenic global warming due to the many examples of the source data being proven as highly flawed, as well as the failure for any single major prediction to materialize.

Reference - Watts Up With That.

2012 was supposed to see Florida submerge.
Then 2018.
Then 2020.
Now what, 2030?

Always looming. Never made even slightly better. Stay ever afraid. Ever guilty.

Also, everyone seems to adhere to this incorrect premise that North America (and the US in particular) is the worst polluter. No one ever acknowledges the incredible ounts of unregulated pollution spewing out of China and India. And how could anyone criticize them? We'd make them mad and lose our electronic ls manufacturing and the tech support to help Gramma use it.

It’s true, and we can’t fight it, and it’s for many reasons.
1. Solar and wind are not effective for generating enough power for the US if we all use electric cars
2. If we want everyone to use an electric car, then we need to do 2 things
A. Power grid needs upgrading to handle everyone’s car charging at night
B. Make. Electric. Cars. Affordable.
3. In the future, our only hope for enough electricity will rely on nuclear power, but everyone is afraid of it after all of the idiots at a couple of power plants.
4. We can’t just stop drilling for fossil fuels, because most things, including parts of the electric cars which everyone wants, are made from fossil fuels
In short, it will be impossible to stop drilling for fossil fuels, which is one of the reasons that climate change can’t be reversed where we are now

I think it does need to be stopped so cities like NYC, DC, London and Newcastle don't go underwater eventually.

I'm in canada, so not sure if this counts, but a lot of the old growth forests are being cut down for the lumbar industry, putting more CO2 in the atmosphere. i don't really know much more off the top of my head.

Climate change is real, but there’s an industrial-scale disinformation machine geared toward convincing American conservatives that it isn’t.

It’s the same right-wing disinformation machine that convinced conservatives that Covid wasn’t real, and then that Covid wasn’t a big deal, and then that Covid was a big deal (a bio-weapon manufactured in China by Dr. Fauci), and even though it is a big deal and a bio-weapon manufactured in China by Dr. Fauci coming to murder you and your family, we shouldn’t really do anything to stop it because masks and vaccines are for pussies. (But if you’re really worried about it anyway, drink piss and take anti-malaria drugs and horse dewormer instead.)

The American conservative response to Covid — which is killing people right in front of our faces, on a massive scale — is proof positive that they’ll never wrap their heads around a scientific phenomenon as large-scale and abstract and slow-moving as anthropogenic climate change.

Conservatives in America don’t like “scientists telling them what to do” and will twist themselves into knots to avoid any information that might suggest that. I’ve tried explaining that it’s not just scientists, but farmers and ranchers and fishers and rangers and wine-producers who have directly observed and have been having to plan around climate change for years now, with no success.

They won’t listen to reason because the contrariness is the point. If there’s a scientific consensus that impacts politics in a way they don’t like, then they’ll reflexively take the contrary position regardless.

Listen to lefty jimmy dore and he’ll quote the same crap about Corp corruption infection the medical and scientific institutions. Threatening fund and the revolving door has been an issue for a long time. Ppl are too hyper partisan to a toxic point. It’s funny quoting stuff from 10-20years ago or even John Oliver from 5-7yrs ago to see how badly the left has been high jacked

Piss is disgusting, but less deadly than drinking bleach, which has also been tried.

It’s odd that they go to these weird lengths to “fight” a disease that, 5 minutes later, they’ll tell you is “just like the flu.”

Does it make any kind of sense? No. Doesn’t stop folks from trying.

People weren’t reacting this way to vaccines even 5-10 years ago. And back in the day, in the 1950s that conservatives supposedly idolize, everyone got their shots. What happened?

My theory is the internet sped the transmission of falsehoods faster than it sped the transmission of truth. Any unqualified idiot can post a Facebook comment, or a YouTube video, or a meme, or start a blog, and if they shout loud enough then they’ll get a following. The costs of getting information out there have fallen to basically zero, gatekeeping mechanisms of traditional media have completely fallen away.

There’s more information at our fingertips than ever before, but more doesn’t equal better. You need reason and a certain amount of education and background knowledge to sort through it all, and those things are harder to come by.
