His "winning" it was a purely political and publicity move by the Nobel committee, he basically won it on spec, in hopes he would do something *afterwards* to earn it, which he ultimately never did.

Nobody believed he had yet done anything to earn it, including himself. He was surprised, and considered not going.

And some on the Nobel committee later regretted the move.

Nobel prizes won by Trump: Zero point zero. by Obama: one. Keep trying though!

First I've heard of this, so I looked it up. He didn't "give himself" Time's moty award.

He mocked up a fake cover and pretended he got it - which is bad enough, agreed - but he never *actually* got an unearned award.

Of course, he was a full on Democrat at the time, so he was just as much allowed to get away with it as Obama was.
