That’s simply not true.
Remember that roles *were* reversed last term, when IG lost the election and became a Congressperson. The ruling Libertarian Alliance campaigned hard against IG but didn’t impeach IG *when he was a Congressperson.* Why?
One good reason is that Congresspeople simply don’t truly have “power.” They’re not stream mods. They don’t appoint Cabinet members. All they do is vote and represent their Party.
These are good bases for outlawing the impeachment of Congresspersons entirely, since it’s turned the whole business of impeachment into a petty exercise. When the dust settles, I will move to amend the Constitution to remove Congresspeople from the list of those who can be impeachment.
Another thing to consider: In functioning democracies, winning parties have to share *some* power with the opposition. You can campaign hard, but after the election, you have to work together. You can defeat your opponents’ ideas in votes, but you don’t get to remove your opponents from the political arena entirely and drive your opponents off the face of the earth.
Tl;dr — IG is being a sore winner with these two bogus impeachments.
