I worked for Veterans at the VA for almost 30-years, after serving in the Army, stateside. I didn't, and still don't care what their politics were, any honorably discharged Vet deserved my respect. I have been attacked by drunk Vets and those on Drugs. Some even threatened me with weapons. I never took it personally. Many of them would bend my ear when they came in. They represented the spectrum of personal and political preferences. They all got the best service I could give them.
I was alive when Eisenhower and McArthur died. I attended services at my VA in honor of them both. This is where Ingram and her ilk miss the point. You don't have to like or agree with the person to respect what they do and did while wearing the Uniform of our country. They all paid a price for our freedom. Some paid more than others. But they all paid.
