MLK would be a Republican today. He was pro-life, religious, anti-gay marriage and believed in equal opportunity. The vast majority on the right have no issue with gay marriage, so King would be hard right. The woke radical left of today, like Ibram x Kendi, denounce King for holding modern-day Republican views on race. The woke have now reversed and hyper focused on race... insisting we treat people differently based on race, view people primarily by race and segregate spaces by race. The solution, they claim, to racism in the past is racism today. This is very unproductive thinking. MLK day has actually become a anti-woke day for the right to point out how misguided the left have become since the time of the great civil rights leader MLK.

He was also pro 2nd Amendment. He famously applied for a gun permit for his bodyguard after his house was bombed. The Democrat Sheriff Mac Sim Butler denied it in spite of the copious number of threats Dr. King was receiving.

"many" Democrats aren't in-love with gap marriage. 20% of Democrats oppose it... 10s of millions of Democrats. It can be hard for people to change foundational issues like the basic concept that a man and women marry. I fully support gay marriage. What I see is support for marriage falling in general. The LGBTQ community seems to be the rare community that is actually fighting to up-hold the tradition of getting married. As a person who favors marriage, I'm glad to see others fighting for the cause. However, I don't overly judge a person who is uncomfortable with same-sex... Democrat or Republican. Opinions are shifting pretty quickly in favor of same sax marriage. Give it time and we'll get there... left and right together.

55% is what a hard left source said. Meaning, its 55% at an absolute minimum. More favorable polling will put it even higher. You have to be pretty backwards in 2022 to be anti-gay. I'm trying to think of any politicians who run on an anti-gay platform. I'm sure some are out there, but I can't think of any Republicans who take this position. To be clear, I'm sure you can find some... but, its a very unpopular position to be anti-gay at this point.

Biden's political history on this would be an interesting one to track. I've never researched his public statements on gay-marriage.
