I agree that the upvotes and downvotes shouldn't be showed individually but this system would actually be good

Do downvotes even count for anything? Theres nothing showing the downvote count. I think its just a button put there to make people think they're doing something

No downvotes doesn't do anything more than displaying red if you press it

Yeah you still get points for pushing it (i think) but it doesnt count as/for anything

But if a meme gets more down votes than ups, it would show a negative number which is as bad as seeing the downvote count.

I guess what you mean is the vote count never goes below 0 no matter how many downvotes it has.
