Yes, there are a record number of children in hospital with COVID, but not necessarily because of COVID. Even Lord Fauci admitted this.
Every child admitted to a hospital is tested for COVID no matter why they came to the hospital or are displaying any symptoms.
As of last week, there were an estimated 3,678 children under 17 in hospital who had tested positive for COVID, though most were admitted for other reasons and most had no symptoms or COVID symptoms were mild.

No where near the 100,000 Sotomayor quoted and very few are reported to be on a ventilator.
To date a total of 678 children under 17 have died with COVID. There is no data if COVID was the cause of if other comorbidities existed.
