If you're not doing it to insult, but to define sexuality then the site mod should be able to tell the difference but if you are being banned for simply typing the word 'gay' then I would agree there's a problem but this was never clarified was it?

yeah... that's called an "aggressive' comment and they are restricted from most sites.

I agree that these sites that 'protect' their guests also offer little or no leniency for a member who may break a rule or say something rude/insulting to other members. A second chance shows that they are willing to let us learn and change our responses.
After 58yrs, I've learned to be more polite and let the other be a dick... they usually fade away into oblivion and I go about my day. (Note: it's super easy to create a new profile too ;)
