Any objective person would have to agree that race relations were far worse at the end of his term than they were at the beginning. It's very sad, not just for what it is, but for the squandered opportunity it represents. He could have (well, should have) learned a lot from the way Nelson Mandela governed South Africa, imo. Not as a blueprint, but as a guideline.
