Actually, parents who send their children to religious schools have to fund government schools as well.

Not according to this law. Public schools would have to send the money (per student) to the religious school instead. One of the bedrocks of our education system was everyone pays for public school as a civic duty. Should you chose to go elsewhere, that is also on you as there is a public means already available.

But if the government school is bad, shouldn't parents have the right to send their children to a better school no matter if they can afford it or not.

If you didn't change the the law so that the money follows the student, only the rich could send their kids to better schools.

This law allows the poor to also use better schools. It is called competition. This law would force the government schools to improve of else lose money.

How about stop stealing from public schools and fund then correctly. Why are you in favor of having to support rich kids going to private schools when they taken money out of the public? And now we are going to have to pay for kids to go to a religious school too? Stop believing that the government can’t help. It’s the same old tired republican routine of trying to privatize everything for profit and then when it either fails, or doesn’t self support the way they claim it would, we the tax payers have to come to the rescue again. Fleeced like sheep, all because you think public is a bad word.

The U.S. funds schools higher per student than any other country, yet we are 24th in education worldwide. Obviously, the way we are doing it does not work.

I am not supporting rich kids going to private schools. I am supporting poor kids having the opportunity to go to the same private schools as rich kids. This allows poor parents to send their children to better schools if the government school is bad.
