"For as anti-religious as socialism supposedly is (Marxist-Leninist states did attack the church, no question), . . . "
There is no doubt that all of the -isms have made it a constant practice to go after God's people, starting with the Jews, and then adding the Church after it showed up. The liberty that comes with being born again is not compatible to the top-down, despot forms of government, which is why such governments have, and continue to, try and stamp all forms of it out. To be sure, they went after many of the false religions too- anything that opposed the State's narrative.
" . . . I think the communistic practices of early Christian societies should be looked at, and really question whether their principles of providing to all through their mutual aid institutions were truly sacreligious."
Not Communist, despite the alleged communal component of Communism, something generally good that is used as a Trojan Horse to slip tyranny in overnight. The truth is, if societies practiced the directives found in the Word of God, such as "Love your neighbor as you love yourself.", government would barely be necessary, if at all. But the wicked heart found in all of mankind will never allow for this, so government was instituted by God to put a bridle on the wicked passions of mankind. The evil that governments do is the evil of mankind, not God, but God uses and directs them, like dogs on a leash quite frankly, to accomplish His will on Earth.
And please, do not attempt to tell me about God. You barely know anything about fellow human beings, yourself included. You know nothing of the God Who created the heavens and the Earth, and no doubt have been taught how all religions are essentially the same, or some other nonsense like that.
But this is why the Constitution of the United States, and its being a Republic, is such genius. The Founders understood that people are wicked, so not matter what system of government is set up, evil wicked men will corrupt it, and use it as a weapon against their fellow men. You would trade the checks and balances of the US for the checkless and balance-less Socialist dynamic. The difference between the two is that Socialism immediately requires force to remove it, whereas we have many more peacable options in this Republic. And even then, the Founders understood the perils of having such a free society, hence the 1st and 2nd Amendments. Well, and really all of the Amendments for that matter.
