Regular sand is highly eroded rock with random materials from the sea, only partially being fish dropping. White sand, however, is parrotfish droppings.

technically there are a bunch of different kinds of sand from silicone, small pieces of rocks, fish feces, decayed organisms, and other stuff so its not impossible that this happened it was most likely small pieces of rocks and while we are on the topic glass was discovered after blacksmiths found out that sand can lower the melting point of iron and the byproduct would be a greenish murky substance that when smelted further created a transparent thin solid that could be used to add a view to homes while still keeping it insulated.

But how can you make glass out of poop? Glass is amorphous silicon dioxide, how would we be able to make that out of fish poop? Also, sand is highly purified before making glass out of it, and the final product has additives in it such as metals that make it that clean, transparent and strong, its not as simple as sand —> furnace —> glass.
