Jesus doesn't condone gayness
But yes, He'll forgive you, if you accept it

Did he actually say he doesn’t condone gayness though? Based on what I remember in the New Testament, the only thing Jesus really does concerning homosexuality is say that marriage is between a man and a woman and only a man and a woman.

Bruh. Back then it was an expectation that everyone was married, so it means a man shouldn’t cheat on a woman for a man. And even if it does mean homosexuality is not Normal, we’re getting this from some book that says being gay isn’t normal, then it continues with people walking on water, talking animals, etc

There's demon/human children
I'm not familiar with a huge orangutan hippo, perhaps you're referring to the behemoth in Job?

could be a lie made in more modern bibles because nobody hears of LGBTQ stuff until like the 1900's or 1800's

Well we don't have evidence on anybody of LGBTQ people from those times, or the 500's, or the 1000's, only really the 1800's or 1900's for sure

"For this reason, God gave them up to passions of dishonor; for even their females exchanged the natural use for that which is contrary to nature, and likewise also the males, having left the natural use of the female, were inflamed by their lust for one another, males with males, committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the recompense which was fitting for their error." Romans 1:26-27

"Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God." 1 Corinthians 6:9-10

"For the sexually immoral, for those practicing homosexuality, for slave traders and liars and perjurers—and for whatever else is contrary to the sound doctrine" 1 Timothy 1:10

He doesn't explicitly say. And that's correct, and I'd say that's enough right there.

Paul (New Testament) had some words for it too

Romans 1 is pretty clear that homosexuality is an abomination to God for starters.

I just think that a lot of times people confuse Christians saying it's a sin for them hating them and trying to make their lives miserable. Granted, there are "Christians" who do just enjoy hating people for that, but the ones who really want to follow what the Bible says are just trying to help them be saved before it's too late.

I would agree with that. However, I would counter with the old saying “You kill more flies with honey than with vinegar”. Maybe the Christians who push the whole “it’s a sin” argument aren’t aware they’re actually driving people away and that they should change their tactics. I know I am going to enjoy interacting with someone who is actually understanding of where I stand and what I believe over someone who is always pushing people to see, do, and live as they see fit.
2 ups, 3y
Can't focus on the sin alone, other than as a stepping stone into the need for a Savior.
There's a lot of things most Christians aren't aware of....

I’m not seeing anything in Romans 6 specifically about homosexuality, I’m assuming that’s what you wanted me to read?
2 ups, 3y
Romans 6 is not specific to homosexuality but about what repentance looks like, and how God's forgiveness is not an acceptance of the sin, or permission to continue wantonly in sinful practice. That includes but is not limited to homosexual acts.

There are passages of the Bible that condemn homosexuality, along with other random things like mixing fabrics — however, these sorts of things typically found in Old Testament books like Leviticus and Deuteronomy played pretty much zero role in the teachings of Jesus himself.

Wealth and property though? Mmm, He had a few things to say about those topics

Sort of — we talked about the Bible’s stance on homosexuality but not about the finance-related teachings.

Needless to say these verses clash with a political party whose id is expressed by a New York billionaire, not to mention American culture and lifestyles in general.

Correct, but also, "thou shall not covet"
Help the poor etc.
And as I understand, you're not exactly hurting for money yourself. Not to make a personal jab, but maybe verses about wealth apply to you more than you'd like to admit.

I certainly wouldn’t mind paying more in taxes — however, every tax reform proposal that I’ve seen in my lifetime (including from the “socialist” Democrats) considers people like us not worth taxing more.

I do my bit by tipping everybody well, giving to charity, and giving to panhandlers — yeah, we’re not “supposed to do that” for “reasons” but the social safety net in our country is appalling.
0 ups, 3y
This verse in Matthew is not about taxation. The verses about wealth are not condemnations of prosperity. These are both speaking to the hearts and mentalities of mankind.

Jesus' teaching is for people to individually be responsible for helping those less fortunate, and to not expect someone else (or another entity like governments) to do it for them.

"But I pay my taxes!" is not enough.
0 ups, 3y
What do taxes have to do with this? The government doesn't have to force you to help people lol

Yeah there are a whole lot of rules in the Bible that the vast majority of people just don’t follow since they really don’t make sense in the modern world, like the no shellfish rule (How many people go eat at Red Lobster in an average night?). However, Jesus is indeed someone we all could learn a thing or two from, no matter what creed you are.

As for the no capitalism thing, I’m not gonna touch that one. I’m not Christian, I’ll let someone who’s actually Christian respond to that.
0 ups, 3y
Old Testament Levitical laws do not apply to Christians saved by the sacrifice of Christ's death and resurrection.

Honesrly they do not apply to anyone anymore. They served a purpose that has been fulfilled.
0 ups, 3y
It's a Jewish thing

And the capitalism thing is probably money corrupts
