Let's also remember, what brought the war to a screeching halt...

... a pandemic.

WW1 was such a stupid war too. Brought hardly any technological advancement, and just got 17 million people killed in pointless drawn out warfare

I mean, it’s not that I don’t feel bad for the people who died, it’s that, well, starting a World War because some Austrian got killed seems kinda dumb

True. But then Russia and Britain and other irrelevant countries had to but their heads in. I wish countries would quit butting their heads in everyone else’s business

It wasn’t that. Austria suspected Serbia to assist in the assassination (which they might have), so they declared war. Serbia was allies with Russia and France, so they all declare war on Germany and Austria. Then Germany tried to get around the maginot line by going through neutral Belgium, and Britain showed up to stop Germany from attacking neutral countries.

France didn't really care about Serbia. They only entered the war in order to support Russia and that Germany demanded France not to join the war.

I’m not saying it’s not tragic that 17 million people died, I’m saying is that war was stupid as hell
