Laugh now. But, Veterans benefits appear to be in the sights of Republicans. Nothing new here. Nixon cut our budgets and froze hiring as the numbers Vietnam Veterans surged. Reagan allowed our budget to be increased (for optics) then sequestered (held back) the increased funds. Republicans hate Veterans benefits, except at Veterans Day Parades.

And Democrats hate veterans and America. In fact, they use to spit on them when they returned from serving their military duty, after being drafted. Now democrats love America's enemies more than America.

Nobody ever spit on me. I have never met any combat Vet who was spat upon. I once had to help a group of them re-qualify at the rifle range. You would spit on them at threat of great personal harm.

In my almost 30-years with the VA, my experience is that Democrats voted to fund VA services year in and year out. No Democratic President ever sequestered or cut VA funding. Once, when I was accompanying a Republican head of the VA at a meeting with VA employees, I was asked by a Vet if he could personally had a letter to the guy. After reading the fairly harmless request for him to have someone look into how Gay Veterans were treated, I asked the guy if he would take the letter. He said "OK. But, don't expect me to shake hands with the son-of a bitch." I never heard a Democratic head of the VA refer to any Vet like that. The record is there for you to prove that Democrats hate Veterans.

Even during Vietnam the VA was screwing over vets. My dad was thankful for two things-
1) Getting out of that place in one piece.
2) Staying far, FAR away from anything dealing with the VA.

Your Father was a member of a sizeable minority that hated the VA. That is one of the reasons that the recently deceased Max Cleland established the "Vet Centers." Their "Vets helping Vets," and "Help without Hassles," approach bridged the gap for many. But, I met many who never came to VA until a major health problem and no health insurance forced them to. They discovered the "Who's Who of Medicine," doctors from Harvard, Yale and UCLA, the top 100 medical schools in America, supervised VA healthcare. It was the least we could do for them.

As with all such programs (VA, SS Disability, First Responder Disability claims) their are those who word the system. A review is acceptable to address those few.

The VA does discover fakes and frauds through ongoing reviews. Very few. But, what he was talking about was cutting benefits to people who receive service connected benefits for diseases and things like Traumatic Brain Injury, instead of bullet or shrapnel injuries. He thinks they should get jobs, instead.
