bible hypocrisy

Biblical logic has me wondering if the Bible, or at least parts of it, was written by people on drugs.

I'm no bible thumper apples, and actually, I'm not religious in any sense. However, even I know the bible is a compilation of texts, and was written by multiple people. There was probably no single editor either. In other words, the bible is fairly bursting with contradictions. Christians seem to somehow have no problem with this.

By definition Christianity is based on the teachings of Christ, which included how Christ interpreted the "old testament". No need to continually go it as a Christian. I find peace in reading only the recorded words of Christ in Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. Everything else is acknowledged as attributed to someone else interpreting Christ's words and the old testament. A bit like doing research on the internet - find the original and avoid other interpretations for the clearest intent.

Seems like a sensible approach to me. And, if you explain that to people who isolate and point out the contradictions, maybe it will help them understand how Christians navigate and resolve those contradictions. There's no reason for Christians and non-Christians (be they other religions, or agnostic, or even atheist) to go at each other. Some simple respect for everyone's beliefs can go a long way, imo.

I'm an atheist but even I can figure out that when Jesus came he let it be known it was time to love thy neighbor and put this Abrahamic law in the waste basket.

lol, there was no Jesus. Islam is based on christianity, which is based on Judaism. ;) They're all as violent and stupid as each other

Just gotta love non-Christians quoting the Bible. There must be something in the air...you people are coming out in droves.

I'm ex catholic, have been baptised, done both holy communion and confirmation. Came top of the class in my Sunday school and got to lead the flock, carrying the chalice for my confirmation. Have had it up to the eyeballs picking out bible hypocrisy, even back when I was very religious.

A person can be Christian and still take issue with the Bible.
