The Buddhist swastika predates the nazis interpretation by a 1000 years, is generally a good luck symbol & mirror image of what we might think of.
But in most western nations the image of the swastika has been irreparably damaged by the atrocities of the nazis and should not be used.

What if Some Terrorist Group decided "Hey! Im gonna use the cross as my logo!"
Would the Cross become a symbol of hate? yes. Would it lose its original meaning to the Christians? No.
