I honestly think Kyle was practicing self defense. yes he shouldn't have had that rifle, but owning a rifle while underage isn't as bad as battery, the footage of what happened shows somebody was attempting to hit him with a skateboard

Kyle decided to be there. He had to travel miles to get there. He stayed there to "help protect" a local business that he has no connection to for hours. And he stayed for several altercations before holding his hands up as he walked past the cops.

For me, you don't get to start a fight and then claim self-defense. If you don't want none, don't travel several miles, cross a state line, and hang out at a local car dealership then go patrolling along the protest area with a gun and you won't get none.

He was there to be a 'roof Korean' with his friends. Not the moral high ground to be sure, but not the instigator either. When people tell me he was there as a medic, I explain what a 'non-combatant' means.

As to how to start a fight... Vice news immediately posted all the raw footage they acquired. I don't know how much is still up. The 'weapon' that started the fight was a fire extinguisher to put out the dumpster fire that the protestors had just started and were trying to roll up to a gas station. My reaction on first viewing was, "Oh, they're not gonna be happy..."

Yeah no. I mean yeah he was completely in over his head and a big puss unable to defend himself without his gun but no, he doesn't get to claim self-defense after driving 30 mins. to a place where he knows riots are happening, staying out after curfew, and carrying a gun around underage when the open carry law is 18 and over. It wasn't even his gun. And his lawyers are trying to say he's covered by the hunting law which is 10 and over. The only thing he was hunting that night was people.

Do you realize he had shot somebody in the head prior to that video? From another perspective these people were attempting to detain a shooter fleeing the scene of the shooting.
