Homophobia transphobia sexism and racism all are excused by people who belong to the abrahamic religions as "part of their religion" LGBTQ+ and other minorities dont hate the Christians, but the fake ones who are toxic and claim to be godly

I just hate people who need to believe in some sort of higher being enforcing moral rules because they're just too stupid to think for themselves... Blindly following something like that makes you incredibly vulnerable to all sorts of misinformation leading to even more ignorance and hate. Religious organizations like to keep their followers dumb so they're easier to control. And if anyone feels personally attacked by this their propaganda has worked on you..

Ok, I don’t *hate* Christians, and there are plenty of wonderful ones out there that I am friends with and accept, but the word has some negative connotations to me. I do support everyone’s right to religious freedom, no matter what. But when, as a queer person and an atheist, you know that there are Christians who would want you dead simply for that, for who you are, and your strongly-held beliefs, it gets a little hard to not be frustrated with them as a group, or the ones who think that my right to live my life free and independently, is oppressing them somehow. So while I don’t hate Christians, there are plenty that I find a bit annoying.

I’m Christian, and I agree that there are a ton annoying ones that give the good ones a bad name.

Understandable. I know plenty of good Christians too, like my former English teacher, another user on here (not sure she’d want username revealed, etc), but yeah, plenty of Christians act like Karens and that they’re good people simply for having those beliefs.

They hate people even though we are taught not to hate anyone, it’s all kind of weird. I also feel like a lot of Christians are conservative (no offense on them whatsoever but I don’t agree with them) when I’m a semi-liberal.

I don't hate Christians, I hate homophobes that use Christianity as an excuse to be hateful.

As a Christian myself (I guess this depends on who you talk to), I don’t hate them for being Christian, I really don’t hate anyone at all. I don’t judge anyone negatively or positively based on religion, race or anything like that, more so on the behavior and their deeds and how they correspond to their beliefs, I try not to judge anyone period, but that’s hard to do

May I ask what branch/sect you are? (Just curious, I know some branches are nicer about LGBTQ than others)

I’m a Mormon (the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints more specifically), most of us don’t support LGBTQ and are generally very transphobic. There are lots of good ones too, it seems that most at my church building are allies. Sadly a majority of my religion thinks that gender is eternal and that you’re either born male or female and really doesn’t acknowledge intersex people (at least not that I’ve seen). They don’t like homosexuality either, but are way more tolerant of that. I’m not really one of those Mormons who try to push my religion on people, I believe people should go to whatever church (or lack of one) that makes them happy

Thank you! Yeah, Mormons really get a bad rep because of the toxic ones. (I’m an atheist and a feminist, so I can kinda relate to that).

Yeah, it’s crazy, most Mormons would probably hate my view of religion, Mormons also generally believe in strict gender roles and women are taught that their purpose in life is to have children and do what your husband tells you, almost all of the people in the actual church building I go to are feminists, so this doesn’t get taught there very often

Yep, I’ll admit that I used to think Mormons were bad because they were, as I had seen and heard, Karen Christians 2.0, as in, even more toxic than the Karen-Christians from other branches.

I honestly don’t blame you, they can be very toxic

Yes. Likewise, I don’t blame you if you hated atheists after you came across those anti-theists who try to act like people are evil for simply having religious beliefs. While there are some that are toxic and hateful, I can assure you that plenty of us (including me) don’t want to hurt others for their beliefs. If your religion makes you happy or fills a need in your life, then you do you.

Every religion has those people, atheism, although not a religion, has them too

I don't hate them, I have loads of Christian friends, but it seems that a lot of toxic people are Christians.

As a Presbyterian(a branch of Christianity), I do find other branches "annoying" when they say LGBT is a sin. As a Litho demigirl, that shit makes me annoyed at their beliefs.
