Quite simply it is because smart people can read. I know you are young but if you can read well and with comprehension, a whole world of knowledge & information will be at your fingertips. I wish our schools could instill the joy of reading in young people but they sadly have failed. It honestly will be up to you to expand your horizons and if you don't enjoy reading or read well, please take my advice and push yourself to read things you do enjoy. Maybe politics isn't your 'thing'. I know it wasn't mine when I was young but that changed drastically when the world changed. Good luck to you and I hope you do well....
