Just because you’re too young to drives doesn’t mean you can’t own a car. 🤔

You drive one and we’ll see if you still have it in 5 yrs. The pie in the sky battery promoters say 5-8 years. My cell phone which has the exact same battery configuration says “Bullshit”! Does your phone battery go 5-8 years?

You should recharge it when it runs low on juice.

EV warranties are 8 years 100,000 miles.

How long is your phone's warranty?
1 up, 3y,
1 reply
Yeah, they’ll replace your battery within 8 years but only if the battery capacity drops below 70%. That’s like saying a gasoline car’s MPG is expected to drop 30% even if you properly maintain it.

Using a Tesla EV as a stationary power source voids the warranty. So much for using it to keep the lights on at your solar powered house at night. 😂

Nissan is the worst. Tesla is the best. Everybody else is ok.

Tesla let's you run power as temporary backup not as a permanent power source
0 ups, 3y,

“But if you replace it yourself and don't post on social media what you did, there's no way for Tesla to know you powered your house.”

So, what you’re saying is, the whole notion of using EVs to power houses isn’t shared by EV manufacturers. And you risk ruining your EV, thus, losing any money you might have saved or commit fraud. So much for your bogus claim that EVs make solar power feasible. 😂
[deleted]
0 ups, 3y
other automakers allow house power. tesla only has to roll out a software update when it's ready to allow that.

right now, tesla wants you to buy a powerwall for your home.

pick a different car. or keep cherry picking this one :)
[deleted]
0 ups, 3y
home solar power straight into an EV is free compared to gas, so why sell it back to the utility for less money?
0 ups, 3y,
1 reply
Doesn’t say anything about temporary vs permanent. But even if it does allow using if for temporary power source, I doubt doing so every night to power your home doesn’t qualify as temporary.
[deleted]
0 ups, 3y
If you're dumb enough to drain your 12 volt battery and ask for a warranty repair, yes, it should be denied.

But if you replace it yourself and don't post on social media what you did, there's no way for Tesla to know you powered your house.

Other electric automakers have V2H integrated and didn't void warranty.
1 up, 3y,
1 reply
Prorated so after you really need it you get pocket change.
[deleted]
0 ups, 3y,

Your gas car warranty is prorated too?

How much does it cost to replace an engine an transmission?
1 up, 3y,
1 reply
No proration. And I do not complain about an electric or gas motor wearing out. It’s the batteries that are the weak link, a big polluter in electric costs and toxic waste, and poor performance after 5 years. Who wants to “fill up” for 8 to 12 hours. And how many live in the moment people will be without transportation because a forgotten fill up is not a 10 minute fix?
[deleted]
0 ups, 3y
Batteries are recyclable. Gasoline isn't.

Plug in overnight if you don't want to quick charge. Don't you have a house?

Want to stand in cold weather holding a gas nozzle instead?

you can use a tesla to power your house.

just don't post it on social media silly.

but if you must, get a different electric car :)

Home solar power has a steep initial cost and it doesn’t work at night. You can refuel a gas car in 5 min at multiple stations. How long does it take to recharge a EV from solar - assuming you can even get home before the battery dies?
[deleted]

If you're not home during the day just plug into the grid silly.

Isn't 50 cents cheaper than $4 pet gallon?
0 ups, 3y,
1 reply
You’re assuming there’s a place to plug in. Then you have to wait up to 12 hours to recharge using a level 2 power source. Thanks but I’ll wait until EVs become more practical before wasting money on one.
[deleted]
0 ups, 3y
only 8 hours. don't have a house?

are you homeless?
[deleted]
0 ups, 3y,

There's plenty of EVS still on the road from 2010.

There's plenty of solar panels still on the grid from the 1960s.

Your car's warranty is only 36,000 miles. Don't you have to replace it every 36,000 mi?

“people who drive GAS cars rarely go over 40 miles per day :)”

If the only thing you use your car for is commuting to work or school, maybe. But most people need a car to go on longer trips too. So, you need to add the cost of a separate gas/diesel vehicle to the cost of EV ownership.

“if you do, you can always fast charge :)”

Sure, just add the cost of a hotel room for the night to use while your EV is “fast” charging.

Now that “less expensive” EV is getting much, much more expensive 😂
[deleted]
0 ups, 3y
since most people only commute, they only go less than 40 miles :)

fast charging can be done in an hour silly.

you can always rent a gas car for that one trip per year you leave the county you were born and lived in all your life LOL

“What maintenance do evs need?”

You realize they still have tires, breaks, steering, filters, and of course batteries. It’s apparent you don’t even own a real car, or you don’t maintain it. No wonder you’re so naive 😂
[deleted]
0 ups, 3y
what specific battery maintenance is required?

tires need to be replaced on all cars, they are not a maintenance item.

EVs primarily use regen brakes, no pad changes required for at least 10 years.

What filter needs to be replaced? Cabin air filter? That's all you got?

Steering? what part of the steering needs maintenance?

“you only need 8 if you arrive with customary low battery.”

LOL only 8 hours, and that’s every day. Compare that to a 5 min fill up once a week.

“nobody gets home on empty in the real world silly.”

Nobody is able to go very far from home in and EV like you can in a real car.

“also, if you're away from home, there's such a thing as fast charging.”

Yeah, you can go another 25 miles per hour of “fast” charging 😂

“but most people never go more than 40 miles away from home LOL”

Most people who drive and EV, that is. People who drive a real car can go as far as they want.

“Keep telling yourself it's 12 hours all you have to do is plug in when you get home and unplug when you go to work in the morning.”

Keep being wrong about every argument you make 😂

The point is, if you’re too far from home, you can’t just pull into a service station and put in a few volts in 5 minutes to get you home.
[deleted]

“since most people only commute, they only go less than 40 miles :)”

Not in sprawling metropolitan areas like LA and Phoenix. A lot of people drive more than 40 miles one way.

“fast charging can be done in an hour silly.”

And it only gets you enough to go 25 miles, silly.

“you can always rent a gas car …”

So you admit that gas cars are all-around dependable transportation and EVs are only good for short commutes.
[deleted]
0 ups, 3y
gas cars break down a lot and need maintenance. evs need no maintenance.

gas cars take a lot longer at a gas station instead of 3 seconds to plug in when you get home and 3 seconds to unplug in the morning.
