And that is exactly why they are the FIRST and SECOND amendments, not the ninth and tenth. They were, and still are, absolutely vital for a free nation to survive and thrive.

Basically.
And I truly hope and pray we never have an armed rebellion or conflict within the United States again. But just for the sake of observation; the U.S military couldn't defeat the Taliban for good. What makes anyone think hundreds of thousands or even millions of Americans who rebel would be easier to quell?...
My concern would be what kind of leadership will the rebels have? Will they have a George Washington or a Fidel Castro pretending to be a George Washington?

The United States of America as a society quashed the notion that a state or group can secede during the Civil War. No George Washington figure could possibly return because the conditions for such a person to have the same claim to legitimacy in another American rebellion simply don't exist and aren't likely to.
THE 1ST AMENDMENT GIVES PEOPLE THE RIGHT TO TELL GOVERNMENT, "GO SCREW YOURSELVES!"; THE 2ND AMENDMENT GIVES PEOPLE THE RIGHT TO TELL GOVERNMENT, "DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT!"
