Exactly. These f**kers keep moving the goal posts, forcing the rest of us to pay while they profit. This is part of what I mean when I say that climate change may be science, but it is also a business.

I work in building engineering, you wouldn't believe (or maybe you would) the regulation they have put on the industry. Lots of it makes absolutely no sense at all and it defies human nature. Energy code is a huge deal in construction these days and it is cost prohibitive, it stalls the economy, and it keeps entrepreneurs from realizing their dreams. Green building design is all well and good, but I personally feel like a very large portion of it is just a huge money grab. We have done many LEED projects, but really all that is is you build a "green building" and pay your dues to the organization for a nice plaque to put on your wall. I've seen many clients turn from that and just go with more reasonable programs like energy star or something similar where you get all the benefits of energy savings and rebates but you aren't paying into the elitest program for bragging rights. It's mostly a crock if you ask me. I'm all about energy savings and I see a lot of the background reasoning and logic to be sound, but forcing it down people's throats instead of incentivizing is the wrong way to do it.

Not sure where you live, but I'm in the US. Here in commercial applications the HVAC is largely controlled by indoor thermostats, but all commercial buildings are required to have a certain percentage of outside air introduced into return air for each unit. Sometimes, a sensor will be in place to measure the temp of the outside air in order to tell the unit how best to condition it, but I've not heard of HVAC being controlled based purely on outside temperature. Not saying it isnt a thing, but I've just not heard of it being done that way. I'm honestly not sure how a unit controlled that way could function efficiently, but who knows.

Lots of folks like that out there unfortunately, we just did a big commissioning job on a system that a similar contractor installed but didn't do startup on. The whole thing didn't work at all, but they never bothered to set any of the controls or dampers in the right positions. Long story short, we got blamed for bad design, ended up doing the startup setting ourselves using a sub we trust, and low and behold it all works. Owner still wont pay us, might go to litigation at this rate, really frustrating.

I very much agree. Replaced my unit in 2016, and paying it off was a major drain on my income. I don't think anyone is advocating for the destruction of the human habitat, but clearly much of these efforts are virtually signalling and cash grabbing.

Easy, they (politicians) invest in something, and then pigeonhole mandate it. I.E. ....the Obama's purchased a butt hell of GMOs, Michelle pushed for "healthy lunch program".....viola....now our schools buy gmo veggies from the Obamas on our tax dollars.
