So I had to do a bit of DuckDuckGo-ing, and yeah, I didn't realize that was Ed McMahon (only saw him on the PCH commercials. ^_^). Had no clue he was on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. Only saw a few monologues, and between the much more subdued character vs Jay Leno (who I grew up with) and the fact that I had to keep looking up most of his jokes, I kinda lost interest. Watched some of his clips including that one time he was actually drunk on the show, plus an animal clip... wow. I forgot how entertaining these shows were. We need to bring shows like this and entertainers like Carson/McMahon and Leno/Eubanks back into American TV. Pure gold.

Yeah, technically I grew up in the time of Leno to, but I watched Space Ghost ,I was 6 when Carson left so I knew Ed from pch commercials as well.

Oh wow, Space Ghost! I saw the commercials years ago, but never actually saw the show.

It was adult swim before adult swim.
It also inspired sealab 2021 created by Adam Reed and Matt Thompson who makes Archer.
Adam does the voice of Ray Gillette on Archer as well.
