It is good to know that during the Civil War the concept of RCT did not exist, as many lives were saved by doctors performing amputations without the blessing of RCTs.

This is true: but there's a reason that's the gold standard. Since most people who get Covid get better, an RCT is the best way of telling the difference of getting better with treatment as opposed to getting better because of the treatment.

I don’t lose any sleep not knowing how many people get better with treatment as opposed to getting better because of the treatment. I just don’t know how some people can sleep not knowing how many lives might’ve been saved by using an inexpensive relatively safe treatment because they told people not to use it.

I'm going to disagree there: it's important to know. Because if they're getting better with instead of because, we're just giving them a placebo. Also, I always skip to the end of the mystery novel . . .

It might be true I will never know if I got better with or because of what I took. But it’s also true all the people who died will never know if they would’ve lived if they had taken the treatment.

Hence the need for the science.

The recovery time I keep seeing cited is 1-2 weeks. However, with as many millions as have been infected, you'd think there'd be nice data to be found.
