What was your full original comment? I'm the founder and currently one of the owners of the History_Memes stream, and I'd like to know so I can see if it's within the stream's rules. One of my objectives in creating the History_Memes stream was to encourage rational and productive historical discussion and debate, and I want to make sure it lives up to that mission.

The History_Memes stream is not intended to promote any political ideology, nor is it primarily intended as a place for political discussion. I don't believe that the moderator was acting with a political agenda, as I have encountered people of various ideologies who believe the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki were unjustified or justified. Nevertheless, I believe that it's up to debate, and I've seen valid arguments made in favor of both positions. As long as the debate is conducted in a civil manner and doesn't devolve into a toxic keyboard war, I see no problem.

"The bombs were not atrocities. We warned Japan. They didn't listen. So we dropped Little Boy and warned them again that if they didn't surrender, we would drop another bomb. They still would not surrender. So we dropped Fat Man. THEN they surrendered. That being said, although the bombs were destructive, a land invasion of the Japanese home islands would have cost over a million lives, maybe more. So the bombs minimized the loss of American lives."

I see no reason why your comment should have been deleted. You stated your opinion in a rational manner and provided reasoning for it. Furthermore, you didn't engage in any harassment or trolling. Long story short: I wouldn't consider your comment to be against the stream's rules.

Going forward, I'll make the rules regarding situations like this more clear, as I know the stream's description is not the most thorough.

The "moderators" are inept at their task. There are no "rules"...they make up the "rules" as they go along.
Your comment regarding the history of the US and Japan and the dropping of the A Bombs were fact. Period. No argument. FACT.
The moderator/moderators are ignorant on most of the subjects they "moderate".

It is sad. I do not believe we specifically warned them that the new mass destruction bomb would be dropped on a city. We gave them an "or else" deadline.

I raised a question similar to this in a recent post not in 'history stream'. I cannot remember details but may have gone sonething like this. See meme. The replies I got were very thoughtful.

Still I am unconvinced that the winners of wars do not determine what constitute war crimes. So perhaps you can contemplate next time your black/white views are so offended

Yes there probably are some right wing mods that do similar thing, but in the grand scheme of things, it's the left. (Facebook, Twitter, Google, YouTube, etc. )
